Romantic Restaurants in Paris

Posted by: happygoluckytv
Paris is known for romance; it's where dreamers thrive and romance blossoms. If you're making your way to Paris with that special someone, it is well worth planning a romantic night out. The first step to any romantic night out is a good meal, so here are three of Paris' most romantic restaurants
Image By: fvanrenterghem1. Lapérouse: The famous Victor Hugo was once a regular here and the restaurant's mirrors still have diamond scratches from the days of yore when mistresses tested how genuine jewels were. It's hard not to succumb to the charms of this 17th-century Seine-side town house whose salons speak of history like none other. The cuisine aims for a balance between traditional and modern, often drawing on Mediterranean inspirations. For a wonderfully romantic meal, reserve one of the legendary private salons. You can also sample the restaurant's eclectic menu at lunch, when a bargain menu is served for €35-€45 in both the main dining room and the private salons.
2. Dans Le Noir: Image By: Julien HalerDinner in complete darkness. The perfect way to experience a romantic night out. With your sense of sight temporarily held hostage it's amazing how your other senses come alive. You and your partner will find yourself so much more aware of not only the food you taste but also of each other. The guests are served a three-course gourmet meal with guidance from visually impaired servers, who encourage diners to get comfortable with the darkness by suggesting that they serve their wine themselves, for instance. This is a wonderfully refreshing experience in a relaxed and friendly environment and the service is impeccable. Be warned though, there can be a long waiting time.
3. Les Bouchons de François Clerc: This is a very small bistro in a 17th century building and is a great option for a romantic night out that is also easy on the wallet. It's extremely charming and the décor is rather romantic. The food is priced reasonably and they boast the “least expensive wine list in all of France”. Reservations are strongly suggested.

Haute Couture:The Parisian Way

Posted by: happygoluckytv
Heading to Paris and wanting to fit in fashionably or just intrigued by the way Parisians always manage to stay so super chic and trendy?
Here are 5 easy ways to dressing the Parisian way!
Accessorize wisely
If anyone knows how to accessorize, it's the Parisians. The silk scarf is a trademark Parisian accessory, tie it loosely around your neck in a neat knot over a neutral overcoat and you can't go wrong! Experiment with various hair accessories, sunglasses and bags depending on what suits you and your tastes. Most importantly: explore the world of hats - an elegant cloche, a bohemian slouchy bonnet or the quintessential french beret. Nothing adds ‘a certain je ne sais quoi' like a good hat.
Lose the Bling
Jewellery is minimalistic to say the least. For the daytime, go with pearls and keep diamonds for the evening. A simple bracelet, studs or a strand of pearls around your neck will do just fine. They don't have to be real - just as long as they look real. Image By: The Lingerie Addict
Footwear
Sneakers or chunky boots are a complete no no. If you can't walk comfortably in heels, then give them a miss too. Go for simple, clean cut flats that are stylish yet comfy.
Neutral Tones
The Parisians prefer sombre classy earthy tones instead of Pop Art colours that scream for attention. Everything about their style is classy and understated. Add a hint of colour through your scarf or hat. Another option is to play up a neutral outfit by adding a splash of colour through a bold but basic red or blue jacket.
Always make the effort
It takes a lot of time and effort to look stylish – and Parisians never rush anything. You will rarely ever see a poorly dressed French person strolling down the Champs Élysées. Even day-to-day activities like walking the dog, going to the grocery store or running to the post office requires putting on a bit of lipstick, trying on the new scarf or wearing your classic beret. Once you've got the look sorted, throw in a few French words, remember your etiquette and you're all set to be as chic as any Parisian strutting their stuff on the streets of Montmartre.

Soho Chic

Posted by: happygoluckytv
You can see them in strutting their stuff in the West End, propping up a bar in Hackney or window-shopping in Shoreditch. They're fun, intellectual and uniquely stylish - and that's why the rest of the world wants to dress like them. Welcome to the world of the Artsy London clan who are out there doing their own thing, breaking and making their own rules.
Here's how you can get some of their style into your own wardrobe:
Skinny Jeans
A unisexual trend, skinny jeans are available in a variety of colours and are a popular choice with most of the artsy folk. Customize them to make them truly ‘yours', whether it's adding badges, sewing on patches or just buying a pair that are in your favourite vibrant colour.
Oversized Sweaters
Girls, grab your mans' sweater! If they're neutral in tone, team them up with a pair of funky slacks or if they're loud and flashy wear them with a pair of plain jeans. Image By: Ben Novakovic
Glasses
Even if you don't actually wear glasses, buy a pair to wear on the days you're feeling hugely intellectual and poetic. Oversized frames are incredibly popular but they don't suit everyone. There is a great variety available, from chunky funky colours to thin basic blacks in all odd shapes and sizes. Have fun while choosing them, see what suits you best and give it a go.
Sneakers
They're fun, funky and comfortable. There isn't a better combination than that. Whether they're patterned, coloured or sequined, sneakers teamed up with a simple dress or a skinny jeans-oversized sweater combo can never go wrong!
Bags
Bags are the quintessential hipsters' favourite accessory. Side satchels are the current trend but you can't make a mistake with a basic backpack for the boys and an oversized printed bag for the girls. Try teaming colourful bags with clashing or co-ordinated outfits - whatever floats your boat.
The best part about the Artsy London look is that it's so individualistic there are no rules to follow! So look at these tips for guidance and then have fun creating your own unique fearless brand name for others to look up to.

Shopping in London

Posted by: happygoluckytv
London offers a dizzying array of shops, from budget outlets to the top-end designer boutiques, suiting all tastes and wallets. At either side of the spectrum the most well known shopping meccas in the UK's capital are in Oxford Street and Bond Street.
Oxford Street is Europe's busiest shopping strip with millions of visitors pounding its pavements every year. It houses a huge number of shops, often ‘flagship' stores, from budget behemoths like Primark, the popular low cost clothing store, and classy department stores including John Lewis and Selfridges. Bond Street caters for a more upmarket customer, housing many well-known designer brands including Gucci and Christian Dior.
However, away from the hustle and bustle of these two well known hotspots lies a more interesting range of shopping choices that you might not be so familiar with:  Image By: Ck Howley
Carnaby Street (Oxford Circus tube)
Just a few moments stroll from the chain stores of neighbouring Oxford Street is where you'll find the more discerning (and notably better dressed) customer. It will appeal to both men and women alike as there are clothing and shoe shops for both, as well as mixed gift stores. Whilst there are a couple of well known brands, there is an altogether edgier style to be found here, often independent, together with some great vintage stores such as Fur Coat No Knickers (2.15 Kingly Court) and Peekaboo Vintage (2 Ganton Street).
Spitalfields Market (Liverpool St tube)
Perhaps less well known that other clothes markets such as Camden and Portobello (Notting Hill), Spitalfields is a must-see East London destination specialising mostly in clothes and interiors. The old market is made up of stalls, with clothing for both adults and children. Housed in an old factory warehouse, as well as grabbing a great bargain, you'll be shopping to your heart's content in some of the most atmospheric surroundings in the city. Skirting the main market are upmarket interior shops with both new and vintage treasures waiting to be discovered.
Westfield Shopping Centres
Located in West London (nearest tube Shepherd's Bush) and a new centre recently opened in East London (Stratford tube) next to the Olympic village, London is now home to the two largest shopping malls in Europe. Covering all types of shops, styles and budgets, if you are into shopping and don't mind the less authentic atmosphere of a mall, then you really need look no further than the Westfield centres. To ensure that you get the most out of your trip, there are a variety of eateries to give you the extra fuel you'll need to continue your shopping.
Hampstead (Hampstead tube)
One of the prettiest (and wealthiest) areas of London, Hampstead hosts a number of chain stores and independent shops making it a fascinating place to shop if you want a break from the buses and crowds of the more central locations. The tone here is upmarket high street stores such as Jigsaw, to designers such as Nicole Farhi, mixed with a growing number of independents. Arts and crafts shop-cum-gallery/workshop, The Oak Studio at Perrins Court is also a must-see; as well as exhibitions and handcrafted delights on sale, it also offers workshops for you to explore your creative side.

98 Bar and Lounge Review

Posted by: happygoluckytv
The East End of London has long established itself as the cool and quirky side of the capital, with popular areas such as Old Street in Shoreditch attracting a young and hip crowd. Bars are well known here, and it takes an altogether new and inspired place to shake up what could quickly become a tired and obvious area.
Welcome then, to 98 bar and lounge. Tucked away behind a secret door, within walking distance of Old Street and Liverpool Street tube station, this magical bar offers unique and original surroundings that will be sure to delight. From the outset, starting your journey on an otherwise nondescript street after eyeing a subtle ‘98' sign to confirm that you're in the right place, you are led down a twirling outdoor staircase to the subterranean magic of the basement beneath. Pretty foliage surrounds you on your journey down, giving a taster of the new world awaiting you below. Image By: Max Braun
Through the doors a real life Alice in Wonderland experience hits you; it takes some time to fully take in the delightful scene around you. Antique teacups, saucers placed on tables and sweet jars line every wall. Antique Louis XIV furniture invites you to sit on it, perhaps stroke it, and the waiters and waitresses' beauty implies an air of exclusivity. You know you have stumbled upon a gem here, and almost as much as the innocuous street it lies on does, you want to keep it a secret.
For all its theatre and mystery, 98 is surprisingly down to earth in its atmosphere - making it a trendy little place that never feels too pretentious. No, it is more like a childhood treat; you're supposed to be excited at this place. It wants you to be.
The cocktails are a treat too, focusing not just on flavour but on colour and visual display too. Most notably is it's ‘Passing Clouds' cocktail, made with real candy floss, a cornucopia for the eyes as well as the taste buds!
The main bar is a delight in itself - and well worth lounging in – however, in a seemingly small place there is still more to discover: a conservatory and piano room, a stylish sitting-room space beyond, and yet another bar space towards the back of the first three rooms. Stylish and intimate, this is a place to impress friends and dates alike. Go, please, but don't tell too many people our little secret.

From Sitcom to Cinema

Posted by: happygoluckytv
Missing the Hazzard County boys’ antics, or the magic only Samantha Stephens can conjure up? Fear not, Hollywood won’t let the adventure or enchantment dwindle for too long.
Whether it’s viewer expectation driving the trend of television making its way to the movies, or simply the insatiable need creators have to keep their investments alive, Hollywood is delivering.
No longer are forlorn characters confined to box sets; studios are reviving the quirky set ups and classic situations the home audiences have come to crave on the big screen.
Year after year, studios are desperate to get audiences off their sofas and into the cinema, with the release of movies like The Adventures of Tintin, The Dukes of Hazzard, The Smurfs, and Bewitched flooding the silver screen with nostalgia.
Perhaps it’s the lure of seeing everything bigger, better (and even in 3-D) that has fans flocking to buy tickets to already tried and tested storylines and characters. But do these one and a half hour attempts at resuscitating beloved brands really satisfy our demand to relive the past? Box Office figures reveal millions line up at the cinemas each season just to find out.
Bewitched grossed £85 million worldwide, The Dukes of Hazzard £72m, with Tintin estimated to return a whopping £225 million at the box office (according to Box Office Mojo).
Hollywood might be primarily motivated by revenue, but the fans will always be driven by that innate human curiosity to delve back into the lives of familiar characters and see how they’ve evolved over the ages, usually in comparison to their own lives.
Eager to please, Hollywood is responding at a rapid pace; it seems audiences will no longer have to wait generations to see television transform into cinema with release of The Inbetweeners, Sex and the City and Entourage developing alongside their television counterparts. Having taken in £13.2m on its opening weekend, The Inbetweeners has already surpassed former record holder Bridget Jones: The edge of Reason in 2004 according to the Guardian. The healthy lead is proof that audiences are still willing to pay to see their favourite small screen sitcoms on the big screen - transformed into big budget entertainment.

World Festival Attire

Posted by: happygoluckytv
This guide is for people who like two things: travelling the world, and dressing their best.
As a traveller, you will know that the world is full of incredible places, countries, people, and traditions, and, if you're going to explore and tour the world, you will want to be sure that you're properly attired. The following are some of the most popular festivals around the world, and how you should dress when you attend.
Two of the most incredible festivals in the world are held in Spain. The first of these is the Pamplona Bull Run, which is both exciting and extremely dangerous. Image By: fearghalonuallainBulls are released into the street and participants have to run away as fast as they can, to avoid being attacked. The traditional attire is red and white, unless you've wisely chosen to be a bystander, in which case you should dress for the weather. The other Spanish festival is the Tomatina Tomato fight. In this festival, millions of tomatoes are thrown as people battle it out with food in the streets. Competitors wear white attire which shows the pelted tomatoes at their best.
Another festival where white outfits are the standard is the Holi Festival in India. This event is a celebration of colour, and people come from all around the world to throw pigments of various forms at each other until the white clothing becomes a mass of colour.
This final festival, Oktoberfest in Germany, is one of the most popular of all time which millions of people from all over the world flock to. If you want to fit in, you'd better pull out your dirndl. The dirndl is the traditional Bavarian dress worn by peasants, and the standard outfit locals would associate with Oktoberfest. You don't have to wear wooden clogs, of course, but, to truly get in the Oktoberfest spirit, the dirndl is a must.

Sydney Fashion Trends

Posted by: happygoluckytv
Sydney might not seem to be the fashion capital of the world, but that doesn’t mean it’s lacking in sophisticated taste and stylish people. A visitor might be surprised at what they find, as the clothing trends are very up-to-date in the city. Fashion, the ever-changing mythical creature that always looks its best, has set up camp in Australia’s favourite city.
One fashion staple that is sweeping the city is the sarong-like scarf, which triples as a wrap, a scarf, and is a complement to any outfit. The most elegant members of the city, as well as the young hipsters, are constantly choosing this graceful accessory – a multi-purpose item for the everyday person. In Sydney at the moment, Silk scarves in toned-down, earthy colours like brown, beige and gold are certainly in vogue.
It might be winter in the northern hemisphere, but December, January, and February are the months when people head to the beaches in Sydney. Be sure to stock up on the most chic summer wear you can find. You’ll need a good swimming costume, and it is always worth looking for something that complements your body-shape perfectly. Instead of going for your standard bikini, why not go for something more exciting? Consider a cut-out, strapless or stylish one piece.
The same rules apply to the men – you can’t get away with the same shabby shorts forever. Sydney boasts some of the most fashion-conscious men on the planet, and there are a few must have items. Sweater vests look great paired with a simple white shirt and black pants. Tote bags are also all the rage, as men everywhere are discovering why women choose to carry a bag at all times: it’s just much more practical.
Be sure to indulge with fashion, Sydney-style. Whether you live in the great city or not, you can still get the wardrobe to match.

Celebrity Winter Outfits

Posted by: happygoluckytv
This winter season you needn’t sacrifice style for comfort. The cold weather doesn’t have to have a negative impact on your fashion sense, and you can dress well while keeping warm all season long. Take a look at the best dressed celebrities this season to see for yourself.
If you look at virtually any fashion-conscious star this winter, you’ll notice that they share one thing in common: stylish trench coats. Trench coats are all the rage these days, not just because they’re warm and cosy, but also because they complement many different styles and looks. You can pair them with bare legs and nice slip-ons, like Fergie, tight jeans and warm boots, like Victoria Beckham, or a nice pair of leggings, like Kate Hudson.
Another warm and wonderful way to complement any outfit is a scarf. This season, you can see many famous faces in the UK and America wearing giant loopy scarves. The scarves’ bulkiness goes well with skinny jeans or other tight fitting clothing.
A, perhaps, surprising new accessory that many celebrities are making use of (Kate Hudson, for one) are fingerless gloves. This type of glove provides the warmth you would expect, but with bare fingers, as well as all the style of a rock star – never again will you need to remove your gloves to use your touch-screen phone.
Celebrities are certainly providing us with the key looks and styles this winter. If you want to look great this season, be sure to keep your eye on the actresses, pop stars and IT girls. The keys is get the accessories which both look great and mean that you can stay cosy and warm during the winter and spring seasons.

Best Movie Outfits

Posted by: happygoluckytv
Movies are, of course, serious business. The creative minds of artists, writers, and directors get together and work on projects with the key mission to entertain huge audiences. It’s no wonder that some of the best clothes in the world are from the silver screen. You probably don’t want to go around wearing the exact outfits that some of your favourite actresses have worn, but you can get great ideas and inspiration from the movies.
Here are some of the most stylish movie looks that can inspire your next outfit:
We all know the first one: Marilyn Monroe’s iconic dress in The Seven Year Itch. The 1955 movie features some of the most stylish actors of its time, but Marilyn’s dress outshone them all. The simple white number paired with elegant high heels was the pinnacle of fashion at the time, and continues to be as iconic as ever.
Another classic movie character is Grease’s Sandy Olsson. Olivia Newton-John’s character wears clothing which was considered the height of fashion at the time and, interestingly enough, has largely come back into style in recent years. The Lycra might be going a bit far, but the belts, accessories, and other outfits she wears would turn heads to this day.
Let’s not forget Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada, Meryl Streep shows that older woman can still be stylish and beautiful with her mature yet chic clothing in this chick-flick classic. If you want the look, consider smart suits with timeless accessories and a short naturally grey hairstyle.
Bonnie Parker from Bonnie and Clyde is the next on our list. Faye Dunaway’s low cut sweaters paired with elegant scarfs and a suitable beret is a look that not many will forget. It is also one which can be achieved with relative ease.
There are, of course, many more of these fashionable cinema heroines – Audrey Hepburn, to name but one – but only so many of their styles can be pulled off in this day and age.
